Campione! Anime

Campione! (カンピオーネ!, Kanpiōne!, “Champion!”) is a famous Japanese light novel for middle & high school students and one of the most successful literary works of Jō Taketsuki.

The novel is mainly about Godou Kusanagi, a baseball player in a middle school, who has a strong passion for baseball but was forced to stop playing because of injury. After killing Verethragna, the God of war, Godou Kusanagi then becomes a Campione.

It is illustrated by Sikorski, and got published in May 2008 by Shueisha Inc (first, under Super Dash Bunko’s imprint, and from 2014 till now, under Dask X Bunko’s imprint).

This novel series concluded with issue 21, which was released on November 22nd, 2017. Then, it was adapted to manga series and commercially published by Japanese publisher Shueisha, at Super Dash & Go! Magazine.

From July to September 2012, it was launched on Japanese television for its anime adaptation as the production of Diomedéa, Inc., aired on Tokyo MX and AT-X. Also, Sentai Filmworks announced this TV series with an English dub in North America.

On February 23rd, 2014, the series was licensed along with two other famous ones:  The Familiar of Zero & From the New World. If you love this original Campione! Series, you will love ‘Campione! Lord of Realms’ (カンピオーネ! ロード・オブ・レルムズ) – its continuation sequel, and ‘Shiniki no Campiones’ (神域のカンピオーネス) – its television spin-off.
